Amazon hasn’t released its sales figures for the Kindle Fire, but the Android tablet must be selling well at Best Buy. The retailer ranks its tablets by popularity, and the Kindle Fire is now at the top of the list. The Amazon tablet even climbed over the 16 GB iPad 2 model on its way to the top.
Before you start saying the Fire outsold the iPad 2, remember, these rankings are calculated on a model-by-model basis. Yes, the Kindle Fire outsold each iPad 2 model, but it probably didn’t outsell the iPad 2 as a whole. When you add up the sales of all eighteen iPad models sold at Best Buy, the Fire likely lags behind. We won’t know the actual sales number until Amazon and Apple release their quarterly earnings reports early next year.
The take home message here is not that the Kindle Fire is outselling the iPad or the iPad is beating the Kindle Fire; it’s that the Kindle Fire is selling well along with the iPad. Early reports claim the iPad is selling well this holiday season and these Best Buy rankings suggest the Kindle Fire is selling well, too.
