Amazon’s in the process of rolling out the 6.2.1 update for the Kindle Fire. The latest version of the Android OS includes an improved Silk browser, a customizable, home screen carousel and new WiFi password feature that prevents kids from turning on WiFi and one-clicking up a storm. Not surprisingly, it also kills root access.
You can download the update from Amazon’s website and install it manually or wait for the update to be delivered over the air to your Fire. If you decide to install the update manually, you’ll need a USB cable along with the files and instructions from Amazon’s website.
